Vogtlandmilch in Plauen, Germany, has completed its expansion. The €46 million project, which involved three years of construction and two years of planning, comprises a new production facility and an adjoining warehouse.
The project was made possible by the municipality taking over a sports field directly adjacent to the existing factory premises. A fully automated block storage facility for 4,500 pallets of UHT milk now stands on an area of approximately 10,000 m³, alongside the new UHT production facility with aseptic fillers for 1-litre and 200/250-ml cartons and a bag-in-box filler from Elpo [container sizes 5 and 10 litres]. The 1-litre machine was newly purchased, as was the large container filler.
In the old factory building, the quark production facility was expanded to include a third line, which operates in three shifts. The butter production facility remains in its usual place in the old factory.
Following the commissioning of the expansion, Vogtlandmilch now offers 180 jobs, 40 of which are newly created. According to managing director Steffen Dünger, speaking to moproweb.de, the company will process approximately 290 million kg of milk and achieve a turnover of over €200 million in the current year.
