The Müller Empire

Date: 27.10.2020Source: IDM / Augsburger Allgemeine

Till Reuter (52), head of the board of Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller since 2019, seems to have ambitions to become the new group leader. He has recruited Hansjörg Herrmann (47) from automotive specialist Mann+Hummel as new COO, replacing Michael Singer (45) who has been a long-term manager in the Müller group. John Broekmans (53) who has been hired in April for managing internationalisation will take over responsibility for the branded business, Müllers‘ most important business. The responsibility was taken from current head of the group Werner Stegmüller (55)  who de-facto has now a weaker position. All in all, Reuter could become the heir of Theo Müller (80) when the time comes. But there is still uncertainty about the plans of Theo’s son Stefan (53) who has taken a seat in the Müller board (effectively succeeding his father). Stefan Müller might want to grab the power as well, again when the time comes.

The Müller group is no more as successful as it used to be. The UK business is in crisis, the delicatessen branch is suffering and, according to insiders, the group wouldn’t have been able to report 2019 profits if there wasn’t Culina, their logistics branch.
