The odds are good that FACHPACK will opens its doors at the Nuremberg exhibition centre as an on-site event. The experience of 2020 has shown that Covid-19 case numbers are lower in summer. And hope is growing that by that time, vaccination strategies will be starting to have an impact. The organisers have already ensured that will be enough space by adding another two exhibition halls. A hygiene plan is also in place, so that our customers can feel safe travelling to Nuremberg and doing business face-to-face. The allocation of stands for FACHPACK 2021 will begin in January.

Said Heike Slotta, Executive Director at NürnbergMesse: “Current registration numbers are extremely satisfactory given the pandemic situation. We are expecting 1,300 exhibitors, primarily from Central Europe. In the course of conversations with our customers from the packaging industry we have noticed how much they are longing to finally meet again in person at a trade fair, especially after all the relevant fairs for the packaging industry scheduled for spring 2021 were cancelled. We will do everything in our power to host a safe FACHPACK in late summer 2021.”

FACHPACK 2021 won’t just be safe, it will also be inspiring. Behind the scenes, staff are working hard on the supporting programme for the event. Once again, the key theme of ‘environmentally friendly packaging’ will play a major role. The two highly popular forums PACKBOX and TECHBOX will now be complemented by INNOVATIONBOX, where exhibitors can present their product innovations. And as at previous events, the best packaging solutions will again be acknowledged through the Sustainability Award and German Packaging Award. Other features planned for the event are special shows on interesting topics, start-up areas, pavilions, and a whole lot more. In addition, some parts of the supporting programme will be streamed online.

In future, FACHPACK will also extend its reach into the digital environment. In recent months, NürnbergMesse has had a lot of positive experience with virtual and hybrid (partly on-site and partly virtual) event formats. What this specifically means for FACHPACK is that presentations at the event will be streamed to the internet where they can also subsequently be downloaded. Alongside the face-to-face contact options at the exhibition stands, virtual matchmaking tools will also be offered at the event. This allows contacts to be made and appointments arranged ahead of the event. Digital tools can also be used to facilitate the search for suitable packaging solutions that meet customer requirements.

A comprehensive hygiene plan makes it possible to safely visit NürnbergMesse events. Contactless payment, online ticket booking, hand sanitising stations, an ultra-modern ventilation system for exhibition halls and congress rooms, wide aisles to allow social distancing, and an app for digital contact tracing at exhibition stands are just a few examples of the precautions in place. As well as this general plan, each trade fair will produce a customised hygiene concept to meet its specific requirements, shortly before the start of the event and depending on the pandemic situation and rules in place at the time.
