IDF to participate in COP27

The International Dairy Federation (IDF) will be an active participant in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties 27 (COP27) taking place from 6 – 18 November in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.

IDF’s delegation will be led by its President, Piercristiano Brazzale, and its Director General, Caroline Emond. IDF experts Nick Gardner (US) and Sanne Dekker (NL) have confirmed their participation in the conference.

IDF will be co-hosting one side event during the conference: ‘The global dairy sector’s climate ambition and progress towards achievement of the Paris Agreement’, organised together with the Global Dairy Platform (GDP) and the Republic of Uruguay which will take place on Friday, 11 November, from 11:30 to 13:00 (GMT +2) in the Tutankhamun room. IDF President, Piercristiano Brazzale, will give the welcome words.

Moreover, IDF will participate in the side event ‘Progress towards Pathways to Dairy Net Zero’, scheduled for Friday, 11 November, from 16:30 – 17:30 (GMT +2). IDF Director General, Caroline Emond, will provide the closing remarks. Both events can be followed on the UNFCCC official channel on Youtube.

IDF Director General, Caroline Emond, will also speak at the FAO – CGIAR side event ‘Accelerating Youth for a Climate Smart World’ on Wednesday, November 9, from 16:00 – 17:00 (GMT +3).

IDF expert Sanne Dekker (NL) will speak at the CGIAR side event to COP27 “Sustainable livestock production for Adaptation, Mitigation and Food Security” on Friday, 11 November 2022 13:15 – 14:45 (GMT +3).

IDF’s latest publications IDF global Carbon Footprint standard for the dairy sector and the Bulletin N°519/2022: C-Sequ LCA guidelines for calculating carbon sequestration in cattle production systems as well as a special COP27 edition of the IDF Dairy Sustainability Outlook will be some of the highlights of IDF’s presentation at the conference.
