EIT Food will hold its 2023 Annual Event in Riga, Latvia on 27-28 June, uniting stakeholders across the food innovation community. EIT Food is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union.
The first of its kind event in the Baltic region, the fifth Annual Event is set to unite a diverse range of stakeholders, experts and industry peers from across the entire food value chain to address unlocking barriers to systemic change.
This year’s gathering is expected to focus on transforming food systems, demonstrating the power of innovation in addressing global food and climate challenges through interactive sessions, panel discussions and networking opportunities.
Speakers will include:
- Dr Kari Tronsmo, Open Innovation Leader at Danone
- Acacia Smith, Senior Policy Manager at the Good Food Institute
- Professor Nigel Scollan, Director of the Institute for Global Food Security
- Dr Andy Zynga, CEO of EIT Food
Sessions that will take place at the Annual Event include a panel on enabling farmers to lead the transition to sustainable farming practices – which will centre food producer voices – and a discussion on reshaping food environments to enable a change in consumer behaviour.
The event will also showcase some of the latest cohort of 63 startups joining EIT Food’s entrepreneurship programmes, which range from boosting the natural immunity of bees to creating sustainable palm oil alternatives. Startups include personalised nutrition developer Verdify, algae ingredient producer Aliga Microalgae and bioleaching innovator ekolive. Corporate partners and research institutions including John Deere and Bayer will also join the event. For more visit eitfood.eu
