Arla Foods’ subsidiary, Arla Foods Ingredients, is investing just under DKK 300 million (EUR39.1 million) to rebuild an existing spray-drying tower at the company’s ARINCO dairy in Videbæk. The spray-drying tower will switch from producing Early Life Nutrition to producing ingredients.
The investment follows on the back of the decision to convert the dairy to focus exclusively on ingredient production, which was announced in August 2024.
Said Luis Cubel, Managing Director of Arla Foods Ingredients: “This investment is strategically important for both Arla Foods and Arla Foods Ingredients. It supports our growth plans and enables the commercialisation of more highly refined products.”
The project also includes a heat recovery system that utilises waste heat from the exhaust air to heat the intake air. This means the need for steam for heating is significantly reduced, lowering natural gas consumption by approximately 4,441 MWh per year — corresponding to savings of just under 5 percent of ARINCO’s gas usage. It will lead to a reduction of Arla’s CO₂ footprint by approximately 900 tons per year.
The technical rebuild begins in July 2026, and the first test productions are expected in January 2027.
The investment is part of Arla Foods Ingredients’ future strategy and will ensure that the company can meet the growing global demand for special ingredients.
Concluded Cubel: “We see strong and sustained demand for our ingredients, and with this investment we are ensuring that we will also have sufficient capacity in the future.” For more visit arlafoodsingredients.com
