Following yesterday’s formal ratification of the agreement by the Uruguayan and Argentinian parliaments, the European Union now has the possibility of provisionally implementing its trade chapters with the South American group. “A swift provisional implementation of the agreement is in the best interest of our Union and we support EU COM President Ursula von der Leyen and her TRADE & AGRI teams to take this route, as the Union did for instance back in 2017 with CETA (CAN – EU) – which is, by the way, still not fully ratified, but works very well for both sides”, said EDA’s Alexander Anton.
