The US brand Malk Organics, which specialises in plant-based milk alternatives, has launched what it describes as its “biggest innovation to date”: a high-protein, additive-free whole milk substitute. The product, ‘Whole Malk’, is made from soya, coconut, cashew and pea protein and is designed to better mimic the neutral taste of cow’s milk, whilst providing more protein without additives such as emulsifiers or thickeners.
The product is now available nationwide at Whole Foods Market, Target and Sprouts Farmers Market and provides 5 g of protein per 100 ml, compared with the 3 g found in conventional whole milk. It also contains a small amount of fibre (1.25 g per 100 g) and is fortified with micronutrients such as iron, potassium, magnesium and vitamins B2, B12 and D.
Malk can look back on a successful 2025, with turnover rising to over US$94 million – a 46 per cent increase on the total turnover for 2024 – and over 1.4 million units sold.
