8.2 per cent reduction in CO₂ intensity

British dairy co-operative First Milk made significant progress on climate action last year. According to the 2026 Impact Report, the company achieved an 8.2 per cent reduction in CO₂ intensity across its supplier farms compared with the previous year. This represents the sharpest annual decline in the co-operative’s history. Compared with the base year of 2021, carbon intensity at farm level is now 15 per cent lower. Specifically, average CO₂ emissions on farms fell from 1.13 kg to 1.04 kg of CO₂ equivalent per kilogram of fat- and protein-adjusted milk. Across the organisation as a whole, First Milk also recorded a 3.8 per cent reduction in net greenhouse gas emissions.
