Bringing UHT testing closer to North American food producers

SPX FLOW is expanding access to advanced Ultra High Temperature (UHT) testing across the Americas through its new pilot plant partnerships in southern California and Quebec, Canada. These sites offer food and beverage producers hands-on access to APV modular UHT systems—empowering customers to trial, validate and refine their products without needing to travel overseas. Until now, UHT testing had primarily been conducted in SPX FLOW’s Innovation Centres across Europe and the Middle East.

The facilities, strategically located to serve the US, Canadian and Latin American brands support multiple heat treatment methods, including direct steam infusion, steam injection, tubular and plate heat exchangers, with flexible holding times to suit diverse product needs. Customers will also benefit from the company’s complete support services, including trial planning, data analysis and scale-up consultation after testing.

Said Pranav Shah, Global Market Director for Dairy & Plant-Based Beverages: “Being able to test and refine products without international logistics gives these customers the opportunity to make faster decisions with tighter collaboration using solutions that are truly built around their unique processing needs.”

From dairy and plant-based drinks to sauces and clinical nutrition, UHT technology plays a vital role in delivering shelf stability, safety and product quality. These new facilities enable manufacturers to:

  • Test real formulations and ingredients in small-scale production
  • Compare a range of APV technologies: infusion, injection, tubular and plate thermal treatments
  • Validate performance in flavour, texture, shelf life and nutrient retention
  • Make data-driven decisions ahead of full-scale rollout

This expansion mirrors the company’s successful UHT pilot installation in Dubai, where producers across the Middle East and Africa benefit from regional access to testing. For more visit info.spxflow.com/bring-recipes-to-life-in-north-american-innovation-centers
