Fermify, an Austrian deep-tech company that developed an alternative cheese platform for casein proteins, has announced that it has closed a EUR 4.5 million seed financing. A number of prominent investors in the alternative protein industry were involved in Fermify’s investment round to accelerate the development of Fermify’s novel cheese alternative products.
The Vienna-based company was founded in November 2021 by CEO Eva Sommer, who previously co-founded cultured fat pioneer Peace of Meat. Fermify offers food companies a comprehensive and automated B2B platform for fermented casein production. According to the company, the products have the same functional properties and nutritional profile as real cheese.
The new round of funding was led by Climentum Capital, with additional investors being Auxxo Female Catalyst Fund, Fund F, Clima Now, Satgana Ventures, Triple Impact Ventures and existing investors Übermorgen Ventures, Backbone Ventures, Push Ventures and Simon Capital.
