Fonterra signs new power purchase agreement

Anza Power has signed another power purchase agreement (PPA) with Fonterra for a solar project near Tangiwai in the central North Island. The power contracted under the long-term deal will be sourced from the Karioi Solar Farm, which will deliver 110 MW of clean electricity. The site will be capable of generating around 215,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually.

In June, the dairy cooperative agreed to procure power from Anza’s 42-MWdc Somerton Solar project near Rakaia in Canterbury. In the same month, it also signed a PPA with NZ Clean Energy linked to the 129-MW Darfield solar and energy storage project near Fonterra’s Darfield manufacturing site in Canterbury.
