The Greek Authority for Tax Revenue (AADE) is considering introducing a strict electronic traceability system for milk and meat, covering the entire supply chain from production through processing to the point of sale.

The aim is to curb the mislabelling of imported products as Greek produce, as well as the use of imported raw materials in products marketed as Greek produce.

Discussions on the new framework have already begun and are initially focusing on perishable goods, and in particular on invoicing for milk powder.

The aim of the process is to leave no loopholes for producers and, on the other hand, to crack down on the mislabelling of imported products as Greek.
