Steve Spencer (photo: IDM), MD of Australian strategy consulting firm freshagenda, explained at the conference of the British information service Dairy Industry Newsletter (DIN) on 5 May that there has probably never been such a complex situation in the history of the dairy industry. The effects of the pandemic and the Ukraine war are coming up against an already tight raw material situation and negative forecasts for production conditions in the USA and Oceania, as well as logistical bottlenecks. In the end, rising prices across the board – with the real increase for consumer products yet to come – will affect demand, in developed countries and even more so in developing regions.
