Lactalis is the second French group, after Publicis, to be licensed as a reinsurer in 2022. This should soon see part of its profits converted into reserves to handle reinsurance business through its new subsidiary Sorélac.
Sorélac received a licence as a non-life reinsurer from the French regulator ACPR (Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution) on 14 December 2022. This allows the Group to obtain contracts with private insurers on better terms by reinsuring itself for part of the risks. Sorélac was created on 1 July 2022 with a share capital of €10 million and is headed by Michel Peslier, General Director of Audit and Legal Affairs of the Lactalis Group. Hervé Bouchet, Director of Legal Affairs, will take over as General Manager.
