Israeli dairy Tnuva will raise the prices of its unregulated products by an average of 4.65 percent. The announcement comes a day after the announcement that state-regulated dairy products will also see a significant price increase. Yoghurt, butter, cottage cheese, yellow and brine cheese are now affected, some price increases come to 9%, the price increases are effective from May 7th.
State-regulated dairy prices are set to rise 9.28% today, as reported. The next 3.1% increase will come in May 2024, with two more increases of the same percentage coming into effect in May 2025 and May 2026.
Mopro prices are a particularly sensitive issue in Israel and have already sparked mass demonstrations. In 2011, weeks of unrest erupted during the so-called cottage cheese protest, leading to supermarkets slashing prices and political reforms to lower consumer prices.
