Saputo bet on premium cheese in Europe

Saputo’s sales increased by 4% to CAN$ 17.84 billion in 2023. The United States of America accounted for the highest share of sales in 2023. Here, the company generated more than CAN$8 billion in sales (55% of total sales), followed by CAN$4.7 billion in Canada and CAN$1.02 billion in the European region. The international market contributed almost CAN$4bn.
For 2024, Saputo’s sales in North America are expected to grow by 5 % and reach approximately USD 8.65 billion. Saputo’s brands in Europe, particularly in the UK, showed stable development in 2023 and contributed around 20% to the company’s total sales, which corresponds to around USD 3 billion. Brands such as Davidstow (premium cheddar) recorded a 4% increase in sales, driven by consumer loyalty and demand for premium products despite the economic challenges in the region. In 2024, sales in the European market are expected to increase by 3% to around USD 3.1 billion. The premium and speciality products business is expected to enable this growth, with Saputo’s premium cheese segment expected to grow by 5%.
