The Automatica show (Munich 24 to 27 June) was good for Gerhard Schubert GmbH’s debut appearance as the company attracted many visitors to its stand with its autonomously operating tog.519 cobot. The exciting turnout underscored the strong position Schubert has established as a provider of cutting-edge robotics solutions.
As many as 90 picks per minute are impressive, and not only in theory. The remarkable performance with which the cobot picks different products from an unsorted jumble amazed visitors at the Munich exhibition centre – and even set an all-new picking record. Over the four days of the trade fair, the tog.519 sorted a total of 112,426 products, some of which had been brought in by visitors themselves.
Said Hannes Häusler, Head of the Cobot Division: “Manufacturers of technical products and representatives from the automotive industry showed keen interest in the cobot’s high speeds and product diversity. These robots are engineered to automate key processes in many different sectors – and to do so at high performance levels. We can achieve both.”
Many types of products and applications dominated the discussions at the stand, which clearly demonstrated the considerable potential of the robot developed in Crailsheim to interested companies. For Schubert, participating with the tog.519 led to greater visibility:
Continued Häusler: “Many visitors didn’t know us as a robot manufacturer before they came to the trade fair. We successfully changed that perception by being present – and we also gained new interested target groups. We are now equally at home in both the automation and packaging industries.”
The cobot repeatedly demonstrated its exceptional flexibility. It immediately sorted randomly brought transparent plastic bottles, without ever having seen them before.
Added Matthias Thor, Division Manager Consulting & Head of Cobot Sales: “This one example vividly illustrates what state-of-the-art robotics and AI-based image processing are capable of today. And yes, seeing this performance confirmed again and again makes us proud. Our in-house development can easily rise to the challenge of being compared to the big names in robotics and image processing. In some areas, our process-oriented approach even puts us a significant step ahead.”
