After being named a finalist in 2024, SOMIC now takes the top spot: SOMIC Verpackungsmaschinen GmbH & Co KG of Amerang was honored as a prizewinner at the “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” (“Grand Award for German SMEs”) on September 26, 2026. The Oskar-Patzelt-Stiftung selected the packaging machinery manufacturer from more than 800 companies that entered the competition in Bavaria alone.

What began as a small workshop with just a handful of employees has grown, over more than five decades, into a globally active company shaping end-of-line packaging for the food, pet
food, non-food, and healthcare industries. Headquartered in Amerang, the family-owned business specialized early on in carton-based secondary packaging and has consistently
expanded this niche ever since. Today, its modular machine series cover the full spectrum, from entry-level automated carton packaging to highly flexible, high-end packaging systems.
