dsm-firmenich has announced the opening of its new Jakarta office and the expansion of its Karawang manufacturing facility, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to customers in Indonesia and across the region. Certified by the Green Building Council of Indonesia, the new office and expanded capabilities will strengthen customer collaboration and accelerate the development of locally relevant solutions for consumers.
The new Jakarta office brings together teams from the company’s three Business Units (‘Taste, Texture & Health’, ‘Perfumery & Beauty’, and ‘Health, Nutrition & Care’) under one roof to maximise synergies and efficiency, strengthen cross-business collaboration and develop more integrated, consumer-focused solutions.
For Taste, Texture & Health, new capabilities in food and beverage include a baked goods application lab and a pilot plant for dairy ultra-high temperature (UHT) applications, supported by expertise in local sweet goods and savoury applications and flavour creation. The office also offers dedicated customer co-creation and innovation spaces and is designed to facilitate the development of integrated solutions for customers in the region.
Jun Saplad, Senior Vice President, Regional Consumer Brands, Perfumery & Beauty, commented: “Today’s customers need more than a supplier; they need a true co-creation partner. This new setup allows us to work side-by-side with our customers, accelerating the journey from consumer insight to fragrance solutions through faster prototyping, deeper collaboration and locally relevant innovation. By bringing together the complementary strengths of our Perfumery & Beauty teams, we can create more holistic consumer experiences and unlock more opportunities for synergies and innovation. Combined with enhanced in-market capabilities and our global creation excellence, our new Creative Centre brings differentiated fragrance and beauty solutions to market faster, helping customers win with greater confidence and impact.”
Added Timothy Elisafan, Vice President Taste, Asia Pacific, dsm-firmenich: “Indonesia has been an important part of our story for more than 35 years. It’s one of Southeast Asia’s biggest markets, and our new facilities will help accelerate our growth. By expanding our innovation and manufacturing capabilities, we’re making it easier to co-create with customers, respond more quickly to rapidly changing consumer needs and bring new solutions to market faster.”
In addition to the new office opening, the company has completed the expansion of its Karawang manufacturing facility, significantly increasing production capacity and strengthening innovation, operational excellence and sustainable manufacturing to meet growing customer demand. The expansion features new drying technology for reaction and top-note products, which is capable of drying both high-fat and high-protein products. It also includes new capabilities for culinary blending, which improves efficiency. The Karawang facility is powered by 100% green electricity, with electric heating expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 300 metric tons per year, while heat recovery reduces energy consumption by approximately 16%.
