Ukrainian dairy in dire situation

A growing number of farms in Ukraine are on the brink of bankruptcy. Milk prices have fallen to the equivalent of around 26 euro cents, reports Anna Lavrenyuk, managing director of the Ukrainian Milk Producers Association. Dairies have also reduced their procurement of raw materials in response to power cuts, distribution problems and competition from imported goods. Some small and medium-sized milk producers are now considering giving up production, at least temporarily.

In 2025, Ukraine produced 6.86 million tonnes of milk, 5% less than in the previous year. In December 2025 alone, milk collection fell by 14%.
