Liquid food packaging systems provider Elopak is launching Pure-Pak Imagine, its most environmentally friendly carton yet. The new packaging is a modernized remake of the original Pure-Pak with Easy Opening feature.
“We see a growing demand for Pure-Pak packaging that helps reduce the global consumption of plastic bottles,” explains Elopak’s Chief Marketing Officer Patrick Verhelst. “The Pure-Pak Imagine carton dispenses with the plastic twist and turn closure and is completely wood-based. Entirely made of renewable raw materials, climate-neutral and recyclable, the packaging innovation supports the idea of a low-emission recycling economy”.
Compared to other packaging options for liquid food products, for example made of plastic or glass, beverage cartons already have the smallest CO2 footprint.1
The Pure-Pak Imagine pack can be opened easily without scissors; the newly designed wave-shaped “Top Fin Seal” supports the opening mechanism. In combination with new carton features for convenient pouring and space-saving folding, the Pure-Pak Imagine packaging concept sets new standards in terms of sustainability, climate protection and plastic reduction.
1 The life cycle assessment comparison of 1-litre packaging for fresh milk shows that beverage cartons cause around 83% less CO2 emissions than non-refillable PET and 77% less than refillable glass (2015/16 IFEU Institut für Energie- und Umweltforschung Heidelberg GmbH, www.ifeu.de).
