The Dutch government, which has been in office since February, intends to fundamentally change its nitrogen policy. It plans to introduce emission caps that are more closely linked to individual farms. These caps are also to be linked to phosphate rights. Consequently, in future, a farm will only be permitted to emit as much ammonia as is determined by its phosphate rights and the relevant emission factor. In the dairy sector, a standard of 0.164 kg of ammonia per phosphate right is to apply from 2035.
