According to an internal German government document cited by Reuters news agency, Germany intends to call for cuts of around €400bn euros for the period 2028 to 2034 during the negotiations. The EU agricultural budget in the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) after 2027 is therefore unlikely to be increased.

A proportional cut across all budget headings, as Germany is reportedly seeking according to the document, would result in a 20 per cent reduction in the EU agricultural budget.
