Danone and Arcor have established a joint venture in Argentina, thereby strengthening their position in a market where several competitors are withdrawing or facing financial pressure. The agreement combines Danone’s existing regional dairy operations with the long-established Argentine dairy processor Mastellone Hermanos, known for the La SerenÃsima brand. The two companies previously held a combined 49 % stake in Mastellone and are now acquiring the remaining shares, meaning the new structure will be fully jointly controlled. The logistics subsidiary Logistica La SerenÃsima, which Danone and Arcor were already operating jointly, will also be fully integrated.
The companies emphasise that the new alliance builds on more than twenty years of collaboration. The aim is to create a more integrated dairy platform that accelerates innovation, boosts efficiency and expands market presence in Argentina. Arcor’s President, Alfredo Pagani, explained that the partnership would drive growth through a joint strategy focused on high-value-added products. Danone sees the combination of global expertise and Arcor’s local market knowledge as a key advantage.
