British company Protein Works was acquired by Lactalis on 1 June. Protein Works was founded in 2012 and produces a wide range of protein-based nutritional products designed to support health and wellbeing. The portfolio includes protein shakes, meal replacement shakes and savoury products, wellness supplements and protein snacks. The company, which has been backed by YFM Equity Partners since 2019, generates annual turnover of around £55 million.

Protein Works operates a fully integrated business model: products are manufactured at its recently opened, state-of-the-art production facility in Speke, Liverpool, and delivered directly to consumers. The brand maintains a close relationship with its approximately 3 million customers and has built up a loyal following. Furthermore, the company operates in several European markets, including Germany, France, Ireland and Italy.
