SÜDPACK

Sustainability is not a trend – it is our responsibility

Built on trust, proven by reliability, delivered with quality – this is SÜDPACK’s motto for the Packaging Innovations trade show taking place in Birmingham from 11th- 12th February. The renowned German film manufacturer will showcase its expertise in Hall 2, Booth 20D – as a strong development partner and reliable supplier to the packaging industry. From material-efficient, recyclable high-performance films to smart packaging concepts for food and non-food alike – SÜDPACK’s portfolio sets new industry standards for innovation, functionality, and sustainability.

In the face of environmental targets, recycling ambitions and ongoing cost pressures, this family-owned company – founded in 1964 – delivers exactly what the market demands: today and into the future. For the safe, efficient and resource-conscious packaging of products such as sausage, cheese or meat, SÜDPACK’s portfolio extends from thermoformable rigid and flexible films to peelable and reclosable top webs.

SÜDPACK will also present its CarbonLite® product family in Birmingham – the latest generation of high-performance, material-efficient pouch films. Based on PP and PE, these versatile film products are suitable for a wide range of applications: as PE flow packs for cuts of cheese, grated cheese, mozzarella or garlic bread; as PP doypacks for snacks; as PP or PE block-bottom pouches for coffee and tea; or as PP spouted pouches for fruit purées. Even fresh ground meat can be safely packaged in these convenient pouch formats. The key advantage: Compared to conventional multilayer laminates or heavier tray packaging, these high-performance films offer maximum product protection with minimal material input, over 90% recyclability, and a significantly reduced carbon footprint across the entire supply chain.

As one of Germany’s most innovative and sustainability-focused mid-sized companies, SÜDPACK continues to set new benchmarks – and not only with its films and packaging solutions. Now in its third generation of family ownership, the company has become a driving force for circularity in the European plastics and packaging industry. Significant investments in both mechanical and chemical recycling – reinforced by pioneering pilot projects and active political engagement – have further strengthened SÜDPACK’s excellent reputation, which was once again recognized in 2025 with a Platinum rating from EcoVadis.

The development of sustainable SPQ printing technology has further strengthened the company’s position in the market. According to an LCA study conducted by SÜDPACK in collaboration with Sphera in 2025 (in compliance with ISO 14040/44), switching to SPQ for packaging printing can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 18% – whether using flexographic or rotogravure printing.
