Faerch, in conjunction with Yeo Valley, a major UK Dairy, are delighted to be the first to bring to market a 100% recycled PET Dairy sleeved pot range. As a valued partner, Yeo Valley will be the first UK Dairy to offer a new sustainable product range. It is made from 100% recycled and recyclable PET, offering the very best product for consumers and the environment.
With the proposed taxation on plastics with less than 30% recycled content, the new packaging range will be exempt from the taxation, which is due to be implemented early 2022. The taxation will impact both rigid and flexible film suppliers.
The new product range is available in three pot sizes and lid, together with a retail-ready packaging (RRP) tray, to offer a complete packaging solution. The rPET pot is 100% recycled and recyclable and comes enrobed in a 100% recyclable cartonboard sleeve, easily separated from the pot into its respective recycling streams. The cartonboard sleeve technology allows the sleeve to be printed on both sides, for improved branding opportunities.
Said Mark Tollman, Group Strategic Sales Director of Faerch: “We see this as a great innovation for our customers and the environment, as we continue to develop sustainable packaging solutions. It is another example of our further commitment to the UK Plastics Pact, which we are proud to be a founding member.”
Faerch are a leading integrated tray recycler and in our dedicated tray recycling facility in the Netherlands, we process food trays received from collectors, sorters and customers from across Europe. We recycle trays back into food grade material, which we use to manufacture new food trays across our production sites. It allows us to offer food packaging made from up to 100% recycled content, and recycle it back into food grade products, without compromising on food safety or any other functional property. Faerch have succeeded in truly closing the loop on PET trays, which is great news for customers, consumers and society as a whole.
Added Tollman: “We see recycled PET as the material of choice in rigid food packaging, as it allows true circularity in direct food contact applications. It is increasingly promoted by legislators across Europe. This product innovation launch is part of the wider product development programme to bring true circularity to the market for Dairies.” For more visit faerch.com
