Keeping in line with its corporate strategy that has proven itself over a matter of decades, SÜDPACK continues to invest its resources in sustainable growth – in new machinery and sites as well as in further development of in-house expertise – and also through targeted acquisitions and restructuring.

Some of the most important current activities include

1)  Establishment of new business units

The establishment of the four business units Food, Medica, Functional Films&Compounds and USA in early 2020 has put SÜDPACK in a position to cater to the individual requirements of these markets with its products and business models – with positive effects along the entire value chain.

2)  Acquisition of LPF

In early 2021, the acquisition of the Dutch company LPF was completed. LPF specializes in the development and production of printed and unprinted duplex and triplex composites for sensitive products. With its high-quality machinery and optimally equipped Technical Center, the new site in Grootegast is now gradually being upgraded to become a fully fledged Competence Center for High Performance Laminates within the SÜDPACK Group.

3)  Joint venture with Kamakshi Flexiprints in India

In collaboration with Kamakshi, a new production site is being built near Ahmedabad with plans to start operation in the last half of 2021. This is where high-quality packaging films for the food and medical device industries will then be produced.

4)  New site in Erolzheim

Since 2020, Erolzheim has been home to the fully-automated high bay warehouse and Logistics Center. It meets the latest standards and utilizes modern technology to efficiently supply customers around the world.

5)  Collaboration with RECENSO

Another key milestone is the collaboration with RECENSO, says SÜDPACK, which has received broad press coverage in recent months. With this strategic collaboration, SÜDPACK is the first film manufacturer in the market to contribute to closing further loops in the packaging industry. The aim is to use chemical recycling to recover valuable raw materials on an industrial scale from materials that are not mechanically recyclable. Both partners are demonstrating that reusable materials generated during film production are not waste, but rather a valuable resource.

In SÜDPACK’s view, chemical recycling is a fundamental building block for keeping products in the loop in order to reduce the use of fossil-based raw materials and to make a contribution to the decarbonization of the economy. SÜDPACK will therefore continue to actively pursue further development and implementation of this process in the future.
