Date: 10..11.2022Source: Elopak

Elopak has opened a new, fully automated high-bay warehouse at its Terneuzen site in the Netherlands. The state-of-the-art facility provides significant efficiency improvements, better quality storage capacity, enables CO2 savings and offers opportunities for further growth. Over a period of around 20 months, it was built directly adjacent to Elopak’s existing production facility. With a capacity of 495 million cartons, the building exceeds the three former storage facilities in the region by almost 200 million units. The official start of operations is 11 November.

Wall to wall with production
The new high-bay warehouse is directly connected to the factory in Terneuzen, the company’s largest production facility worldwide. This so-called “wall-to-wall” concept allows the blanks to be transported directly from production to the warehouse. This saves around 40 truck journeys a day in the region, facilitates the overall logistics and makes a valuable contribution to Elopak’s goal of reducing the company’s greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.

Covering an area of 5,800 square metres, the 25-metre-high warehouse offers more than 24,000 pallet spaces. All processes are fully automated: from leaving the factory to reaching the final storage location. The innovative automation enables more efficient and safe work, reduces the risk of damaged carton blanks and increases food safety in the facility.
