Source of cereulide contamination identified

According to press reports, the source of cereulide contamination in baby milk products from Nestlé and other manufacturers seems to be the Chinese supplier of arachidonic acid oil, Cabio Biotech. Cabio Biotech is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of arachidonic acid oil and supplies around 300 customers, including Nestlé and Danone.

In recent weeks, several food manufacturers in a number of countries have had to recall large quantities of infant milk products because they may be contaminated with the toxin cereulide, which is produced by the bacterium Bacillus cereus.
