FrieslandCampina CEO Heinz Schumacher has been elected chairman of the Global Dairy Platform (GDP), a non-profit industry association representing the international dairy sector. Schumacher succeeds Rick Smith, the chairman of the board of Dairy Farmers of America, who chaired GDP for four years.
In addition to Schumacher, GDP’s board includes the CEOs and board members of Fonterra, Arla Foods, China Mengniu Dairy, Meiji Holdings, Leprino, Saputo and Dairy Farmers of America and International Dairy Federation President Piercristiano Brazzale.
GDP is a trade organisation representing the global dairy sector. Its members include more than 95 companies and organisations operating in over 150 countries. Together, the member dairies process about a third of all the milk in the world.
