Belarus has recorded its first exchange-based transactions involving the export of butter and SMP to Indonesia. The total volume of contracts reached 25 tons of butter and 350 tons of SMP, with a combined value of around US$1.1m. The buyer in both transactions was a major Jakarta-based importer and distributor of food industry products.
Indonesian demand is seen as particularly significant given the scale of its import market. The country imports approximately US$600m worth of butter and milk powder annually, positioning it as a promising long-term destination for Belarusian dairy exports.
Over the first five months of 2026, exports of butter through the exchange platform reached 28,000 tons worth US$182m, reflecting a 2.5-fold increase in volume and a 1.9-fold rise in value compared with the same period in 2025. SMP exports totalled 98,000 tons worth more than US$285m, representing year-on-year growth of 174 per cent in volume and 180 per cent in value.
