As of this month, the Golden Hooves cheese range will be distributed nationwide via a wider group of wholesalers, including newly formed partnerships with Rowcliffe and Curd & Cure, in addition to current UK-wide distributor, The Cress Company. In Wales, Caws Cymru will join current distribution partners Castell Howell and Blas Ar Fwyd, while Golden Hooves will also retain its original wholesale partnership agreement with Longman’s Cheese in the South West

Launched by British farmer-owned dairy co-operative, First Milk in Spring 2023, in order to celebrate the work of the co-op’s farmers and fly the flag for regenerative dairy farming in the consumer marketplace, Golden Hooves Mature Cheddar has carved out a strong position in deli counters as the UK’s ‘Deliciously Regenerative’ cheese. It was joined by a Vintage Cheddar last September, which won a Gold at the British Cheese Awards in March 2024, as well as a Silver in the Packaging category.

Following First Milk’s launch of Golden Hooves Cheddar last year, the business has achieved a number of significant awards and certifications, including the King’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, as well as B-Corporation certification. In January, Golden Hooves was listed in The Good Shopping Guide’s Top 200 Ethical Businesses for 2024, placing the brand at the forefront of ethical dairy farming, as it continues to represent the collective sustainability efforts of the co-op’s 700 members.

Said Leona McDonald, director, Golden Hooves: “This is an exciting landmark for Golden Hooves, as we can now take our regenerative message out to so many more people across the country. We want to show households just how easy it is to enjoy regeneratively farmed products every day, and our new wholesale partners are central to this mission, connecting us with the wonderful farm shops, delis, food halls, village shops and corner stores that will carry our cheese with a Stamp of Approval! Capping off an extraordinary first year for the Golden Hooves brand, we can now look forward to some big new launches in year two, all geared around ensuring that dairy farming can be part of the solution. Watch this space!”

Independent retailers will be able to find out more by visiting the team on stand S170 at the Farm Shop & Deli Show 2024, at the NEC, Birmingham from Monday 29 April to Wednesday 1st May or at goldenhooves.co.uk
