Nestlé will launch a milk-free version of its classic condensed milk „Carnation“, which can be used in a range of dishes from pies to caramel sweets. According to The Grocer, the vegan condensed milk will be available online through Ocado in September and will be launched in Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets in October. The product will be available in retail outlets for £2.19 for a 370g can compared to £1.70 for normal products.

Nestlé has been developing the innovative product for 18 months, as Vittoria Simms, Nestlé’s UK Dairy Marketing Manager, told The Grocer: “It has been a challenge for vegans to find suitable alternatives for making dairy or caramel-based treats or desserts without compromising on taste, texture or appearance”.
