Organisations representing the precision fermentation industry

Standing Ovation has joined the Precision Fermentation Alliance (PFA) and the Food Fermentation Europe (FFE), two trade organisations representing precision fermentation players in the food industry in the US, Europe and Israel. The organisations aim to act as the industry’s spokespersons to government bodies, industry and other economic players, as well as consumers, to promote the use of precision fermentation for a resilient and sustainable food system.

Standing Ovation aims to support the food transition by developing non-animal, lactose-free substitutes for cheese and dairy products, using proteins produced by microbial fermentation. The company has developed an innovative process to produce non-animal caseins by precision fermentation.

Said co-founders Frédéric Pâques, President and Romain Chayot, Scientific Director: ” We are delighted to join these trade organisations and be able to contribute to their mission of information and promotion, because we firmly believe that precision fermentation is an answer to the environmental climate emergency and has a major role to play in the food transition. In that context, it is essential that all players in the field join forces to create the right conditions for rapid development towards market access. From this perspective, Standing Ovation will have an important role to play, not only because it targets both the US and European markets, but also because it is one of the few companies currently present in both associations. It will therefore be able to contribute not only to the efforts of each of these consortia, but also to the communication between them. This is a global issue, and the response must be global”.

Added Sébastien Louvion, Director of Regulatory Affairs, Standing Ovation: “We are at the beginning of a new and exciting era. Technologies for new, more planet-friendly protein resources are emerging. Next step is to make them known to consumers, and for most of these new alternative proteins, to bring them to market. Together with the members of FFE and PFA, Standing Ovation is willing to be among the very first champions to get the approval from two of the world’s most respected health authorities, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).”  For more visit standing-ovation.co/
