The Theo Müller Group plans to close two production sites in Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. The sites affected are the Homann sauce factory (delicatessen) in Rogätz, in the district of Börde, which employs around 160 people, and the Sachsenmilch semi-hard cheese plant in Leppersdorf, where 160 people are also employed.
The sliced cheese production facility at the Sachsenmilch site in Leppersdorf, including the associated production, packaging and administrative areas, is to be closed on 31 December. A spokesperson stated that, despite intensive efforts and an examination of all possible courses of action, the division could not be operated profitably in the long term due to internal and external conditions. The acid curd cheese production facility and the mozzarella division are not affected.
