Tetra Pak announces the expansion of its Factory Sustainable Solutions portfolio with the new Tetra Pak Integrated Heat Pump System for pasteurisers. It builds on existing pasteurisation technology and adds a highly efficient electric heat pump that recovers and reuses heat from the pasteurisation process. For every 1 kWh of electricity used, the system can recover up to 2 kWh of heat that would otherwise be lost – making it up to three times more efficient than a conventional boiler.

By combining heating and cooling in an integrated solution, the system also optimises energy use throughout the pasteurisation process. It upgrades low-temperature waste heat to higher temperatures and generates ice water for cooling.

F&B manufacturers with large-scale pasteurisation processes can achieve significant savings. A typical dairy production line could reduce the energy consumption of pasteurisation by up to 77%.
