European manufacturers of processing and packaging machinery have established a new trade association under the name Europama, the Processing & Packaging EU Federation. The inaugural meeting took place on 10 May 2026 during the Interpack trade fair.
The aim is to better represent the industry’s interests vis-à-vis European institutions, to promote the exchange of knowledge and to enhance the competitiveness of the European sector, as the association states. Founding members include Swissmem, VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery, UCIMA (Italy), EVOLIS Organisation (France), AMEC and Automate UK.

According to Europama, European manufacturers of food processing and packaging machinery exported machinery worth around €35 billion in 2024. Around two-thirds of all machinery traded worldwide originates from the European Union. Europe holds a 70 per cent share of the global market for packaging machinery.
